Cozy 3 Project For Sale
Home

Included in the base price of $10,000 is

A Cozy 3 with all the glass work done

Basically the entire aircraft structure is done with little additional hardware to purchase

What needs to be done?

Optional for purchase

I don't have anything in the way of current up to day instrument but these days most builders are going glass anyway. No radio or wiring stuff.

I am asking $16,100 for the whole project which includes about everything you need (less instruments) to complete a plane.  I honestly think the plane could be finished out with electronics (the only major purchase besides paint) for about $30k which is less than the price of a LongEZ. Most cozy 3's sell for a minimum of $50-55k and I don't think it would take all that long to finish out. Surely less than 1 year if one works hard at it.

The one attractive aspect about this stage of the project is all the time consuming things are done. Wiring a plane took me 3 weeks, and fill/finishing took me about 2 months. This project is still far enough back from a finished plane to allow for a builders' creativity for interior modifications, panel design, wiring, color layout and interior. You don't have to rip out old wiring or sand off paint to add your special touch to the finished plane.

The reason I am selling the project is that I just have too many things going on. I recently bought a cozy 4 which needs overhaul, which means EVERYTHING, repainting (lots of sanding), rewiring, redo of the instrument panel, LOTS of redo's. So now I have 3 planes to mess with, and once I get the cozy 4 flying, I am selling my LongEZ and starting a cozy 540 project of my own design.... too many projects...not enough time!

If I don't sell it, I'll eventually just finish it out, fly off the 40 hrs and sell it and make a tidy profit.

Books, cowls, engine mount, firewall, wheel pants, part of turtle back

Wing hanging on the hangar wall.  Most of the filling and finishing is done.

Canopy is done

0320 Engine in a crate wrapped in plastic.  It was flipped upside down and filled with oil.  All logs.  1500 hrs first run.

Featherlite leading edges on strakes.  Strakes completed.  There are no fuel caps installed.  Fuel sumps need to be installed.

Fuselage, a bit dusty.  I will remove the manual and install the electric EZnoselift if you purchase this option (highly recommended).

A Rontz canard I built.  Very light and as perfect as I could make it.  It has 2 VOR antennas installed.  All hardware.
